Presentation Carina Sparud Lundin

Carina Sparud Lundin is a senior lecturer and section manager at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, The Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. Carina is registered nurse (1985), specialized in pediatric nursing (1992) and has a bachelor degree in health care pedagogics (2000) and a PhD degree in nursing (2008). The title of the thesis is “Living with diabetes during transition to adult life- Relationships, support of self-management, diabetes control and diabetes care “.

Carina has 25 years of clinical experience, mainly in neonatal care and more than 10 years’ experience of education at university level. She is course leader in the Nursing Programme and in courses on advanced level in diabetes care.

Main focus of research is on health, well-being and experiences of professional care and support from significant others during the childbirth period in women with type 1 diabetes. She is involved in the research program Mother and Diabetes (MODIAB) together with Professor Marie Berg. Within this program, a web-based support for women with type 1 diabetes during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding period (MODIAB Web) is currently under evaluation. She is also involved in a project aiming for exploring experiences of weight loss among women following a postpartum diet and exercise intervention. Other related research areas is about parents experiences of diabetes care and changes in daily life when having a child newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
