Presentation Elisabeth Jangsten
Elisabeth Jangsten holds a position as Senior lecturer in reproductive and perinatal health and Midwifery Science at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, the Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Elisabeth has dual registration as nurse and midwife, a PhD in caring science and she has a diploma in Public health. She is active lecturing in the midwifery program which is on the second cycle, and is teaching also on basic and advanced levels in other programs The main focus of her research is the management of the third stage of labour. She has been involved in research about blood loss and active management of the third stage of labour in Angola. The title of her thesis was the third stage of labour – studies on management, blood loss and pain in Angola and Sweden.
Elisabeth has been working clinically as a midwife over 30 years, mainly at the obstetric department at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenborg Sweden were she held the positions as team leader and also as supervisor for 10 years. She has some experience of working the antenatal clinic.
Elisabeth has been working in low-income settings, both in Mozambique and Angola. She worked as clinical midwife at the obstetric department and was also tutor at the institute of caring science. Elisabeth have conducted several workshops on HIV/AIDS with health care workers, on behalf of the Mozambican health ministry.
