Presentation Harshida Patel
Harshida Patel holds a degree of RN, MSc and PhD in nursing care. Since 1983 she has worked as RN with the patients in Cardiac care, both in ICU and outpatient clinic. Her PhD thesis was about, “Symptoms and aspects of care in patients with chronic heart failure” at University of Gothenburg. Thesis used triangulation of methods with qualitative, RCT, Psychometric validation and Health economic evaluation. She is involved in several research projects with national and international collaboration. Currently her research focuses on Physical activity in elderly, Peripartum Cardiomyopathy, and method validation.
Harshida is a Senior Lecturer & researcher at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, The Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Her pedagogic involves Person centered care from disease-illness perspective, health economics, and as a course director in Geriatric care at the basic and advanced level.
Harshida is supervisor for PhD student and also involved in supervision and examination of master students. She makes her input in international exchange programs for students and teachers between Sweden and India and Uganda. She is also author in a Swedish textbook of Ethical Challenges in Health Care (2006).
Harshida is an active board member of STTI, Tau Omega Chapter Gothenburg, Sweden since 2006 and director of planning for EU events. She was Scientific chair for the 2nd European Regional STTI Conference 16-18 June 2014.
