Presentation Viola Nyman
Viola Nyman holds the position of an Adjunct Lecturer at the Institute for Heath and Care Sciences at the Sahlgrenska Academy within the University of Gothenburg, in Reproductive and Perinatal Health and Midwifery. She is also a clinical midwife at Norra Älvsborgs Länssjukhus, Trollhättan and a Research Director at the Department of Research and Development, NU-Hospital Group, Trollhättan, Sweden.
Her research concerns are women’s experiences of childbirth and enhancement of normal labour in hospital based childbirth units. Viola’s methodological knowledge is in qualitative research methods and in action research; a process of inquiry of an organizational system from both an academic and an organizational perspective.
Viola has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in nursing, and a PhD in Health Care Sciences. In 2015 Viola defended her thesis “From the first encounter to management of childbirth – An insider action research in a labour ward world” at The Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
Viola is a registered operating room nurse, general nurse, and a registered midwife. She has been working as a midwife on a labour ward for 21 years, and is a member of a home birth team. She is also a supervisor for master students and a member of BfiN.
